1967 Ford Bronco Parts & Accessories – History & Specifications

The Broncos didn’t change a lot from the 1966 to the 1967 year model.  The stock engine was still a 170 ci inline six-cylinder with an option to upgrade to the 289 ci small block Ford V8.  In 1967, the U14 Half Cab Bronco was renamed from “Sport Utility” to “Pickup” by Ford’s marketing department.  Another notable change was the modification of the front and rear stock bumpers.  Where 1966 Ford Bronco bumpers were straight at the ends, in 1967 the stock Ford Bronco bumper was modified to taper back toward the fenders in the front and taper forward toward the quarter panels in the rear (the same bumper was used for the front and rear of the Bronco).  This gave the 1967 Ford Bronco a bit more fluid styling in comparison to the 66 Broncos.

Some other notable upgrades in 1967 was the change from a single-reservoir to a dual-reservoir brake master cylinder which provided much safer braking by separating the front and rear brake fluid lines.  This way, if your rear brakes sprung a leak, the h-block would trip to block the rear fluid and the front lines would still work to bring you to a stop.  In 1967, the Ford Bronco also received backup lights which was an added safety feature not found in 1966.  The 1967 Ford Bronco also was the first year that Ford Motor Company offered the popular Sport package for the early Bronco which included bright beltline trim and other custom accents.
