6R80/10R80 Automatic

The 6R80/10R80 transmission swaps are becoming ever-so-popular within the Bronco community. Typically the 6R80's that are used come from a 2011-2017 F-150 4x4 w/ a 5.0 Coyote. In 2018, Ford went to the 10R80, in which most all of the conversion parts for a 6R80 will work (some exceptions). Here are some of the highlights of a 6R80:

  • 6 speed with double overdrive

  • Ratio: 1st 4.14, 2nd 2.34, 3rd 1.52, 4th 1.14, 5th 0.87, 6th 0.69

  • Electronically controlled using a Quick 6 controller- tunable, easy to make custom adjustments to shift points and firmness

  • With proper ECU programming, the 6R80 will accommodate up to 1000 horsepower

  • The bellhousing will require some cutting/grinding for starter clearance

  • Requires an adapter on the front to attach to a SBF pattern, adapters usually only use the 5.0L coyote bellhousing pattern, mod motor style,

  • Only factory 4x4 trans can be used with 8551 D20 adapter or 8550 Atlas adapter

  • Drivetrain length increase of about 3.5” when behind SBF w/ a Dana 20 transfer case

  • Has manual shift mode- allowing it to hold gears until the driver chooses to shift up or down (assuming the proper shifter is utilized).

  • 2” body lift required
