Used suspension parts are ideal for budget builds or finding discontinued components that are no longer available new.

Used suspension parts can be safe when purchased from a reputable source and carefully inspected before installation. Check for cracks, bends, or corrosion in control arms and radius arms. Inspect ball joints and tie rod ends for play. Rubber bushings should be inspected for cracking or deterioration and replaced if worn. Tom's Offroad inspects used parts before listing them.

Common used early Bronco suspension parts include radius arms, spring perches, shock mounts, leaf springs, and steering components like pitman arms. Dana 30 and Dana 44 axle components also appear regularly in used inventories. High-wear items like ball joints, tie rod ends, and bushings are always better purchased new regardless of budget and Tom's always recommends applying new wear items to any build or refresh.

When evaluating used Bronco suspension parts, look for any cracks or bends in structural components, excessive surface rust that may indicate deeper corrosion, worn mounting holes or elongated bolt holes, and any signs of previous welding repairs. Shake ball joints by hand to check for play. If buying remotely, ask for detailed photos of all mounting surfaces and weld areas.

Used radius arms can be a cost-effective option if they are straight, free of cracks, and have solid bushing mounting cups. The radius arm is a structural suspension component, any bending or cracking makes it unsafe regardless of cost savings. Many builders opt to purchase new heavy-duty or aftermarket radius arms for peace of mind, as worn or bent arms compromise handling and alignment.
