Front Cage For 66-77 Early Ford Bronco

IMPORTANT: When fitting the front cage in Bronco, be sure to have the top and the doors in place on vehicle to ensure proper clearance. Also be sure to pay attention to the space needed for your wiper linkage and wiper cover when fitting the top cross bar ‘B’.

It will be necessary to relocate the light or other dash mounted controls on some vehicles. Be sure to disconnect the battery cable first.

Installing the Front Cage for your 66-77 Early Ford Bronco

Step 1: Check Parts List
2 – 4” x 5” Four-holed Plates ‘C’
8 – 3/8” x 1 ¼” Bolts
8 – 3/8” Nuts
8 – 3/8” Lock Washers
8 – Large Flat Washers
2 – Side Bars ‘A”
1 – Spreader Bar ‘B’

Step 2: Position part ‘A’ ¼” from the dash and ¼” from the side of the body with the top end 1” above the center of the bend on the main bar.

Step 3: Place feet (Part ‘C’) under bottom end of ‘A’ and position them so the holes will clear the body support under the floor.

Step 4: Place part ‘B’ near the top of the bend in part ‘A’ and parallel with the main bar.

Step 5: Tack weld parts ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ together but do not weld it to the main bar.

Step 6: Remove the front cage kit from the vehicle. Weld it together completely and paint it.

Step 7: Place the completed front cage back into the vehicle and weld it to the main bar.

Step 8: Where the plates meet the floor, drill 3/8” holes through the floor where the holes in the plates are. Secure the plates with 3/8” x 1 ¼” bolts, making sure to use a fender washer, lock washer and nut under the floor.

NOTE: The front cage for the 66-77 early Ford Bronco is designed to be installed with the floor plates under the carpet or floor mat for the best look. Be sure to use all hardware supplied and tighten all bolts securely.
