Door & Vent Windows

Tom's Offroad carries door window glass, window run channel felts, window regulators, vent window assemblies, and related hardware for the 1966–1977 early Bronco. The window run channel felt strips, which guide the glass up and down, are among the most commonly replaced window components, as they wear and deteriorate over decades of use.

Replacing early Bronco door glass requires removing the door panel, lowering the window regulator fully, removing all door felts and vent window, carefully tilting and sliding the old glass out through the upper door cavity, and reversing the process with the new glass. Installing the glass into the regulator channel before raising it is the trickiest step, a helper guiding the glass from outside makes the job significantly easier.

Door window rattle on an early Bronco is almost always caused by worn or missing window run channel felt strips, loose window regulator hardware, or a worn vent window pivot that allows movement. Replacing the run channel felt, the fuzzy strips that the glass slides against, is the most common fix and immediately improves window sealing and reduces glass noise over rough terrain.

Replacing window run channel felt on an early Bronco involves removing the door panel, pulling the old felt from the channel groove on the upper door frame with needle-nose pliers, removing the lower door channels, and reinstalling the new felt into place. The upper door frame felt is retained by a pressed metal channel, squeeze it slightly to grip the new felt securely. Tom's Offroad carries replacement run channel felt kits pre-cut to the correct length for the early Bronco's door dimensions.

The early Bronco comes standard with roll-up windows regardless of top configuration, both hard top and soft top versions use the same door glass and regulator mechanism. The soft top connects to the soft top door frame door with a hard plastic strip sewn into the soft top. If your early Bronco has non-functioning roll-up windows, the regulator mechanism or window crank assembly likely needs service or replacement.
