AODE/4R70W to Dana 20 Adapter Kit, 66-77 Ford Bronco
Transfer Case
The adapter assembly will fit any 1966-77 Bronco Dana 20 transfer case. Requires twin stick shifter conversion.
Transmission
This adapter kit is designed for exclusive use with the Ford AODE & 4R70W / 4R75W automatic transmissions. These 4 speed, overdrive transmissions were introduced during the 1992-2003 model years. It is very important that the new main shaft furnished is compared to the original main shaft being replaced. This automatic overdrive transmission has become very popular among Bronco owners. The gear ratio found in this transmission is great for trail and highway use. We manufacture adapters for both the early and late model AOD transmission. This transmission assembly is 1.5 inches longer than the stock V8 assembly. It requires relocation and modifications to your stock crossmember. The adapter kit comes complete with an adapter housing, main shaft, spud shaft, bearings and seals.
Factory mount sets will need slight modification for this kit. See Tech Advice for more info.
NOTE: This kit will work for the customer who has an AODE/4R70W that is 2wd or 4wd and is planning on having the transmission rebuilt. This kit includes a tailshaft that will need to be swapped in at time of rebuild. If you have any questions in regards to the AOD/AODE/4R70W swap, don't hesitate to give us a call!

Technical Specs
NOTE: Due to the housing design, the factory & aftermarket T-shift transfer case handles require modification for use with this adapter kit. If running a single-stick T-Style shift handle assembly, shimming of this assembly (1/2" - 5/8") is required to gain proper clearance for shifter.
The bottom of this cast adapter housing is not identical to a factory adapter housing. The bushings and washers that go underneath this adapter housing will need to be trimmed and beveled in order for proper fitment. In addition, this kit uses smaller diameter mounting bolts and the sleeve provided for this kit will not install directly into the sleeve provided with the transfer case mount set. One would need to reduce the outside diameter of the sleeve provided in the AOD kit to fit into the sleeve provided in the transfer case mount set. A lathe is handy for this. We are working on a replacement sleeve for this issue.
