This adapter kit allows installation of the Ford AODE, 4R70W, or 4R75W automatic transmissions into 1966–1977 Ford Broncos using the factory Dana 20 transfer case. The adapter housing measures 6.00 inches in length and is constructed from 356 T6 heat-treated aluminum alloy. The casting includes provisions to retain the original Early Bronco mount for proper drivetrain support.

The kit includes a new output shaft, spud shaft, retainer, bearing, snap ring, gaskets, seal, O-ring, fastening hardware, and detailed installation instructions. The adapter assembly is compatible with any Bronco Dana 20 transfer case and requires conversion to a twin-stick shifter setup.

Transmission Compatibility

Designed exclusively for use with Ford AODE and 4R70W / 4R75W automatic transmissions. These 4-speed overdrive transmissions were used from 1992–2003 and are popular upgrades for Early Bronco applications due to their wide gear ratio spread and overdrive capability.

NOTE: Due to the housing design, the factory & aftermarket T-shift transfer case handles require modification for use with this adapter kit. If running a single-stick T-Style shift handle assembly, shimming of this assembly (1/2" - 5/8") is required to gain proper clearance for shifter.

The bottom of this cast adapter housing is not identical to a factory adapter housing. The bushings and washers that go underneath this adapter housing will need to be trimmed and beveled in order for proper fitment. In addition, this kit uses smaller diameter mounting bolts and the sleeve provided for this kit will not install directly into the sleeve provided with the transfer case mount set. One would need to reduce the outside diameter of the sleeve provided in the AOD kit to fit into the sleeve provided in the transfer case mount set. A lathe is handy for this. We are working on a replacement sleeve for this issue.
