This key & spring kit (also known as inserts & insert springs) holds tension on the 2nd/3rd slider gear in your HEF/RAN three-speed manual transmission to ensure it retains in gear. These springs can wear over time and eventually fail. Replacement requires disassembly of the manual transmission. It is a great idea to purchase this kit in conjunction with a 3-speed Manual Transmission Overhaul Kit to avoid a future problem.
