Early Bronco door skins are stamped from approximately 18–20 gauge steel, consistent with the rest of the body sheet metal on this generation. Tube doors are an increasingly popular option for early Broncos used on the trail, offering an open-air experience with some side impact protection. They mount using the factory door hinge locations and typically include a simple latch mechanism. Tube doors are not legal for road use in most states without windows, so they're best suited for dedicated off-road trucks or show vehicles.

Door adjustment on the early Bronco is done at the hinge mounting bolts on both the door and the A-pillar. Loosen the bolts slightly, shift the door to achieve even gaps around the perimeter, and retighten. The striker plate on the B-pillar can also be adjusted fore-aft to change how firmly the door closes. Support the door's weight during adjustment to prevent hinge stress. There are hinge shims and striker shims that are made for door adjustment.

Door water leaks on early Broncos are typically caused by worn or missing door weatherstripping, damaged door glass run channel seals, or a door that is misaligned and not sealing properly against the body weatherstrip.
